Certified or sworn?
Our certified translation carries a signed statement from us that it is complete and faithful. A sworn translation (traduction assermentée) is signed by a translator registered as an expert with a French court of appeal. Some French bodies, such as town halls and prefectures for certain procedures, ask for the sworn kind. We do not sell it online. Ask us what is possible; we make no promise until we have read your request.
Questions about this service
What is a certified translation?
It is a translation with a signed statement that it is complete and faithful to the original. We provide that statement for every document we sell here. It is not a court status.
Will the authority accept it?
The receiving body decides. Many universities, employers and foreign authorities accept certified translations. Some French bodies require a sworn one. Check with the body, or take our 4-question check. If our error causes a rejection, we correct it or refund that item.
Do you need the original?
No. Send a clear scan or photo of every page, both sides. Keep the original.
How do I get names spelled correctly?
At checkout you can enter names exactly as they appear on your passport. We follow your spelling.
Can you translate from or into another language?
Only English and French. For anything else, ask us.
